Projects and Partnerships
The Foundation for Gaia was established in 1983 with a mandate to protect the environment. Partnership has been a key part to our approach since the start. We also believe that cooperation and networking are crucial in making our voices heard on international issues such as environment, water, sustainability, toxic waste, climate, human rights , cultural and sacred traditions and sites linked to the natural world, and thus we have formed many partnerships with other organisations in order to advocate more successfully for policy change. For instance, we were central in organising the Global Call for Action against Poverty (GCAP/ White Band/ One) campaign in Geneva and the Millennium Solidarity Campaign and have since joined NGO networkson specific issuesl inked to our mandate.
Being also situated in Geneva, we are ideally placed to represent such concerns at international forums such as at the United Nations and its various bodies, and work ceaselessly, with our partners, to put environmental, climate and indigenous issues on the international agenda.
In summary, the Foundation for Gaia works in partnership with a variety of groups around the world. We support the work of grassroots organisations as well as networking with global organisations, in order to reinforce lobbying, advocacy, networking and capacity building, and to work together to achieve our vision of an ecologically, economically and socially sustainable and equitable world.
